Reigning from Southeast San Diego, with a bloodline rooted in the homelands of Bicol, Philippines and Nyarit, Mexico, Odessa Kane re-emerged in 2012 with his highly-anticipated Cuetes & Balisongs EP (translation: Guns & Knives). The carefully penned politically-charged album has proven itself noteworthy in the underground music scene as well as critical acclaim winning the 2013 San Diego Music Awards (SDMA) Best Hip-Hop Album of the year and 2014 SDMA Best Hip-Hop Artist of the year. Most recently, he had the honor of being nominated for SDMA 2015 Best Hip Hop Artist.
Odessa Kane came up in the mid-90’s with legendary underground rap crew, Masters of the Universe (MOTU), the same crew that claims artists such as Gonja Sufi, Johaz (Dag Savage), and Orko Eloheim. As a community organizer / cultural worker with KmB Pro-People Youth and Pillars of the Community, Odessa utilizes his music as an organizing tool for genuine justice; keeping true to the tradition of Hip Hop as a form of resistance.
Last summer, Odessa Kane became the newest artist to join the Beatrock roster. In July 2015, he dropped his first project with the label, the EP, Left to Bear Arms and recently wrapped up the “Left Coast Tour” with the team. He is currently working on his LP with Beatrock which is slated to release Summer 2016.
